Two shebeen queens sentenced.

Two of the eleven shebeen queens who were arrested during a police clean up operation in Beitbridge last week were yesterday convicted and fined for illegally operating beer out lets without proper documents.

Caster Musinamano 34 of 1224 Dulibadzimu and Elisa Siziba 54 of 440 in the same suburb in the border town were convicted on their plea of guilty when they appeared separately before Beitbridge resident magistrate Miss Gloria Takundwa.

Musinamano was ordered to perform 140 hours of community service at Dulibadzimu primary school while Siziba was ordered to pay a fine of R3000 and failure to pay would see her doing time in prison for 4 days.

The crates of imported beer worth around R1713 were also forfeited to state as part of their sentences.

Charges against the two arose on the afternoon of July 28 when they were raided at their different place of residence along with nine others who are yet to appear in court during a clean up operation.

Musinamano was arrested after she was found selling an assortment of imported beer worth R980.

On the same day Siziba was also arrested with imported beer worth R733.

They were all asked to produce the legal permits allowing selling liquor but they failed leading to their subsequent arrest and seizure of the beer.

Miss Memory6nMandityira prosecuted in both cases.
